Cooking Sambhar Rice
- Wash together 1 cup rice and ½ cup arhar dal (tuvar dal or pigeon pea lentils) multiple times in water. Channel all the water and include both rice and dal in a pressure cooker.
- Season with ¼ teaspoon salt.
- Add 3 cups water and one teaspoon sesame oil.
- Pressure cook for 15 to 16 minutes on medium flame.
- When the pressure settles down on its own, remove the lid and check if the rice and dal are cooked together.
